LFO Question

Hey guys I was hoping you could help me out with something. I am using my ms2000 for bass wobbles and whatnot and I am trying to use the mpc 4000 to resample those sounds. I am taking a bass sound and sampling it into the mpc adding effects and then trying to use the lfo on the mpc, but with all the configs I have tried it sounds no good , nothing like my ms2k. I am really wanting this to work but i cannot figure it out, and yes i have using the mod window. The ms2k basses are good but the just need a little more and the 4k does that but cannot figure this out. Any suggestions?

And is it possible to control LFO Speed with QLink, I cannot figure this out?

I see rate, depth, delay speed, phase, no speed.

LFO rate = LFO speed

You will most likely want to control filter frequency by the LFO.

1) choose LFO type, DEPTH=100, SHIFT=around 0, possibly slightly negative
2) choose FILTER (start with LOWPASS and set CUTOFF=0)
3) route LFO to FILTERFREQU, DEPTH=100
4) set QLINK assign to LFO RATE (and maybe also another for DEPTH!), TYPE=REPLACE, RANGE=0..100

Still trying to wrap my head around it...You can get some pretty grimey dubstep sounds on it for sure...my only gripe so far is with Unison You can't link the two timbres' lfos together to play at the same time with each other, which is really too bad because you can get some really PHAt sounds with Unison and Dual on, unless I am missing something...oh well, it's a really good synth though. Between it , the 4k , my rm1x(which is rom based and has a shoot loads of basic waveforms, and then I run it through my ms2k by choosing audio in for oscilator 1) and all my softsynths, I am always learning and one satisfied guy!

I do not see where you can route to filter frequency only cutoff, is this correct? And it seems like you can only use the qlink to control the lfo rate if Lfo midi sync is off, is this right, if so pretty useless and sucky for me

a) You will route LFO to FILTER-FREQUENCY via the PROGRAM MODULATION PAGE.

b) Yes, you're correct, unfortunately, you cannot swap different synced LFO rates via the QLINK, it's only possible only under the LFO EDIT SCREEN. For dubstep, this is a missing feature of the 4000.

Thanks TSR, But there is no Filter Frequency on the Modulation Page, only cutoff. The only ones that have frequency on the mod page is filt env 1, 2, and 4 and zone 1-4 filter, def. do not see any filter frequency. Can you confirm this. Thanks for all your help TSR, I truly appreciate it man.

CUTOFF = FILTER FREQUENCY, I was just using another term.

I've been thinking about your synced wobble-bass switching, let's say from 16th to 8th to 3rds.

If one layer is sounding fat enough to you for wobble bass, then you could copy this sound to different layers and choose different LFO RATES for each of them. Then, use the ZONE SELECT feature of the QLINKS to instantly switch between these.

I haven't been testing this but probably will do so.
