Please help an idiot!

I've looked, tested, tinkered and tried it out, but I'm still f***in stuck. Please someone, anyone, tell me the easiest way to import several midi tracks into the MPC.

Background: I use logic for everything (master) and I like to create my midi patterns in there, cause its easy. I create seperate tracks for each sample/hit in logic. Track 1: Hi-hats, Track 2: Snare, etc...

Once I have the pattern in logic, I just want to export the midi files, for each track, into the MPC, organised in much the same way as Logic. You have all said that the MPC swings best, and I agree, so that's what I want.

Whenever I do it, the mpc goes insane!! Tracks don't sync up and it just fights with logic. Everything is setup fine with the MPC. It only goes wrong when I import the midi.

Hope that makes sense. Any clues guys?

You've made the beat in Logic, and want to import it to the mpc for the swing? Besides the fact that most people would do their drumtracks on the mpc in the first place, you've quantized the notes already in Logic so they ain't going to swing just by importing them into the mpc.
Unless you want to add swing on the mpc for each track, but you might as well do that in Logic.

This is my problem: Most of my stuff is live, so everything gets done in logic. I’ve found out (the hard way) that with my setup, and the way that I work, it’s just easier for me to do everything in Logic. Problem is that what logic does to the beat is no where near as good as what the MPC does! I want to use logic as my sketch board while I compose live audio on the fly, then import the midi files into the MPC for a final tweak.

When I tested this out in the past, I turned off quantise in logic, so the MPC could do its thing and the first file always works fine. My problem shows up when I try to import the second file or track – after that shit just goes weird- I lose hair, the neighbours complain, fire and brimstone, etc.

Unfortunately, I need to work in logic first, because it allows me to edit very quickly while I’m getting all my ideas down with my live instruments. After I have my platform, I just want to fire over what I’ve sketched out into the MPC and make use of the famous MPC swing, which logic just doesn’t have.

There’s got to be an easy way to do that! Its just midi right? What am I missing?

Hi, here is some info:

- In Logic's file menu choose export > standard midi file
save it into a easy to find location on your HD

- open ak.sys
make sure the MPC's midifile folder is visioble in ak.sys (right / option click on the MPC icon and choose the preferences > show midifile folder)

- drag and drop your midifiles into the MPC's memory.

Each midifile becomes a sequence. The name of the midifile will become the sequence name.

All PARTS in Logic will become tracks in your sequence (so if you want each track in Logic to become one track in the MPC make sure one track only consists of one part). The partname becomes the trackname.

That's it.

Presto! I couldn't have explained it better. You might also want to try out a groove template in logic. I've not used it myself, so i dunno if it actually works.
