im trying to figure how i can record arpeggios from fantom on the 4k?
is that possible when i record one from the fantom the 4k only plays back the note but not the pattern ,is it possible to record the whole pattern or does it only work with the onboard sequencer?

The question is whether the Fantom sends its arpeggios over MIDI, and it sounds like it doesn't.

Only keyboard I know of that sends arps over MIDI is the Waldorf Q.

Is it the Fantom sequencer that does the arpeggiating, or are there preset patterns connected to particular voices?

My old E-mu PK6 sent arps over midi too.

Time to break out the manual I suspect or find a Roland forum...

I used to record arps from my mc-909 over MIDI. It's hard to imagine that you can't do the same w/the fantom... If it's still the same, the arpegiator is a separate function from the sequencer. You don't need to run the sequencer to arpegiate.

I had it set up where the MPC would play the chords into the mc-909, the mc-909 would arpegiate the chords coming from the MPC and the MPC would record the arp on a different track all in one shot.

Your fantom has USB, right? you can export midi files via usb from the fantom to computer, then drag into the mpc. No problem.

good luck
