Stiff

For some reason my beats sound stiff and not right. I tried changing the tempo and the swing, but for some reason it just doesn't sound right. Also i can't get my drums to sound like they roll off of each other when there right next to each other. I tried velocity and tuning but it doesn't sound like it should. If anybody can help i greatly appreciate it. -Thanks

u have to turn off timing correction. the mpc is fixing ur timing for u also known as quantizing. It means that say ur a little off on ur timing, it will move the note to the closest note that is in ur timing corrections (1/8, 1/16, 1/16 (3), 1/32) if u have it on sometimes it will make undesirbile corrections that will make it sound stiff and robotic. i use it all the time though and i love quantize. its real helpful for alot of things.

I think using 1/32 quantizing works quite well.

For drums next to each other, for instance kick drums (if you mean drums not at the same beat, but just following each other) try playing around with velocity. Like try having just half velocity on the first kick and then full on the other, get things flowing a bit better. And turn of timing correct every now and then.

I tried everything u guys said, and it's not that my beats sound bad they just sound Stiff, i can't explain it that good but thanks for the replys anyways. Greatly appreciated, how can i post up a beat so maybe then u guys would understand better?

yhea post the beat, that would help, if tuning off timing correct and full level didn't work than maybe its the way your samples are chopped up go into trim while your beats are playing and adjust the trim start see if you can't get it looser also adjust the amp envelope so they don't just hit and stop like chunks of samples..
