PLEASE HELP!!!!

I JUST BOUGHT A 4000 AND TRIED TO UPLOAD SOUNDS FROM A CD AND THE DRIVE READS EMPTY. IS THIS BECAUSE IT'S NOT WAV FILES? I INITIALLY THOUGHT THE CD DRIVE WAS BAD AND BOUGHT A REPLACEMENT, NOT FROM AKAI OR ANYTHING EVERYTHING MATCHED WIRE WISE BUT WHEN I TURN IT ON, THE MPC SCREEN SHOWS BUT THEN TO BLANK!!!!! ANYTHING TO HELP PLEASE!!!!

what is your issue? the mpc4k works fine but you cant load from cd?
or is your mpc fugged, and shows a blank screen after bootup?

Both... Smh... I couldn't load from a CD first so I put another disc drive in now it has a blank screen during boot up... I'm going to reinstall the original one and see if it starts to work again

You here to ridicule or help? If its ridicule, u can kindly dismiss yourself don't really need your crap. Besides it wouldn't be an issue to get it fixed or fix it myself so bite those apples! Ha ha ha!!!!

Before replacing the drive you should have followed my advise to try to burn a disk.. Also, did try using a different ISO format when burning the disks with your PC, it will only read certain file system formats.. some one else can tell you which ones, I've forgotten.

To the problem at hand, might be getting a blank screen cos you didn't fully connect the power/data cable on the drive, or who knows, maybe with an incompatible drive you get a blank screen... you're right to check the old drive again, let us know how it goes

ok thanks alot... so i came back home & turned the mpc on now it comes on just no disc drive action at all ie: wont open no light on the drive itself but for the time being im fine with that atleast i know i have no major issues. the screen is now fully visible & operational. now, i assigned some of the factory sounds to a program and tested each pad while in the assign pad screen all were function with sound, but in the main screen of the sequence, a select few will not play the sound but shows that the pad is being struck but no sounds??? but when i go back to the assign pad screen, sound is present! any suggestions??? if you happen to find out anything as far as formats for loading sounds is concerned, help is definately appreciated. im still researching myself, but what im seeing is wav formats so that may be it...

another update... everything seems to be working ok... except the disc drive but thats ok... i found a way to load sounds on without the drive... i downloaded some free sounds from gotchanoddin.com and dragged them to a flash drive... they were all wav files like i assumed and i uploaded them to the mpc straight from the flash drive!!! pretty awesome if u ask me... thanks for everyone's help

Yea, I use a flash drive myself, much better than burning disks.
Even if your drive doesn't work, it's not much of a loss. I replaced mine with a black NEC DVDR from '04 that I harvested from my old PC.. And the main reason I swapped it with the white one it came with is cos the mpc looks so much better when the drive blends in with the front panels.

thats true... i put a black one in but it didnt work.... but now im having the issues with the pads... do you think it may be the sensors???

When youre in the load sound screen, just look at the 'Assign to note ...'
If the note doesnt change when you click a pad... then yes prob the sensor dying... and what's funny is I just noticed last night that one of my pads sensors is dead We should organize a mpc sensor group buy on here to save some cash on new ones )

Yea definately... It's an on & off thing though... Idk... Being that I took it apart 4 times today replacing the sensors shouldn't be that bad... Lol

I almost missed what u said there.... It does change that's the thing so i don't believe the sensors are bad... I'm not sure... Maybe turn the velocity up? It worked fine one minute then it didn't... It recognizes me striking the pad so that's what's throwing me for a loop...
