Another thing, i looked at a few pictures of it and i noticed the unit doesn't have the 8 outs on the back (just the main outs - xlr and 1/4 jack). Is it easy to install that board nowadayz? considering the model is rather old. is it easy to find the 8 output board and install it? having just the main outs that's not so good.

i noticed as well it doesn't have the adat in out. i can live with that. it doesn't have digital i/o or wordclock in. wow i thought all those were standard at least the 8 analog outs should have been, haven't they? thx

All I know is with the ADAT and Workclock boards..The MPC 4K works with my DAW lovely. It feels like its part of my DAW.

Nice, i do get the hang of it now! But it seems those do not come as standard on the units

Besides aksys and the usb connection at the front is there any other way you can transfer sounds or files to the mpc? what's the cd drive use for? thx


Been reading through the manual but still not clear

Loading sounds from CD is not a problem, but if you have folders full of sounds you want to transfer to the MP: I think aksys is what others use for that, I just took the hard drive out, connected to my PC, and transferred my complete sample collection that way... better transfer rate.

thx for the reply i get the point. i can see there is a SCSI connection at the back of the 4k. Can you hook an external HDD into that?

Why would you want to use a old aspect like SCSI when the 4k is the only MP to date that functions as a USB host.
You can just hook a thumb drive, card reader or external drive directly to the front USB port for access.
