Can't get MPC to load samples from CD or USB

When I try to load wav samples from a data Cd, the mpc detects it but then it says "Unknown volume," then it just shows a blank file, I use CD-RWs and to burn it I just use Windows Explorer and i just click and drag, my laptop reads the data cd fine. does it have to do with the bit depth on the wavs? if it is how can i find out the bit depth??

And with a USB flash drive, it doesnt even do anything! no detection or anything, bear in mind i know the mpc only supports v1.1 and i bought a stick off ebay that supports v1.0/1.1/2.0, but i cant get it to work even it works perfectly on my laptop.

Like i can't import anything into my mpc4000 and Im having a really hard time with it.

And for connecting my mpc to my computer via the back USB port, Im not able to update the usb driver to 2.01, when i download the zip file from the akai page i just get 2 files and i dont even know where to put those or how to put those in the mpc.
I can't get my computer to read the mpc so how can i even update it? I use windows 7. When i plug it in it tries to install, then it just says installation failed.

most of the things you are trying to do are elementary supported functions of the MPC4000.

Step 1:
- get the user manual, read it carefully, try to do these tasks, step by step, exactly as described in the user manual.

Step 2:
- if doesn't work, your MPC4000 is therefore broken. You could try reflashing the Operating System. The instructions for this are at www.akaipro.com
Follow them exactly to the letter, otherwise you will DEFINITELY break your MPC.


Running Ak.Sys and the USB driver under Windows 7, however, is NOT supported. The drivers and software were written for Windows 98 and Windows XP.
Therefore, you need to run them in "XP Mode" on Windows 7, or they will not work.
There are threads on the board here about that very thing, right beside yours! Try reading those instead of just ignoring everyone else and expecting them to help you. Because really, we are complete bastards and do not care

F.Y.I man I did look on all these forums and none of them had any clear answer otherwise ignorant like the stuff people post like you, last time i checked it was a forum on helping people out with issues, otherwise isn't there yahoo or aim? seriously thanks again man, also i did read the manual but it doesnt give good insight on much, calling akai would be pointless now since i called them and they dont offer help on the 4000 anymore, I have loaded virtual xp on my laptop and i can't even get this frickin thing to read it! Im asking now to peers on this forum whove might have had the same issue but i guess this forum wasn't what it used to be, anyways i guess its tough luck for me and my only option now is to look in the manual...again.

I think I read somewhere recently that you need the spdif board installed in order to digitally sample from an audio cd.

As for USB, maybe the stick needs to be fat formatted before the mpc will recognize it.

Comes down to you trying different formats on your cd and USB stick.

Correction..the usb stick works, for some reason i gotta push it sorta down and idk y, so the usb wasnt the problem but the port itself. As far as for CDs, it actually does read audio CDs, but it reads em as only .CDA, im really gonna look into that spdif board to sample directly off a cd, thatd be sick as ****..Thanks bro.
