Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

Hi there,

I have everything set to 48Khz, but I'm not sure what to set the base settings in the mpc 4k and the echo audiofire so I can tell if it is working or not. I have the cable plugged in from the out of the mpc to the in of the audiofire.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
M

echo audiofire 8 settings:
Sample rate = 48khz
Clock source=internal
Digital Mode=ADAT Optical

mpc settings:
global>system clock>48khz

thanks lampdog, i checked out the manual before posting.
i'm not sure what i need to do to make sure i'm getting a digital signal through the adat card. i'll call vst service and suss it out, i suppose.

With my interface, external adat clock 48khz. Everything on mine is the same as you have.

Could it be your optical cable bent to tightly?
Maybe the toslink is not pushed in all the way?
Do u have any other gear or ports where you can test the cable?

blue rigger toslink, 2 of them, from Amazon, I forget the actual part number, one spdif from triton extreme and one adat from 4k into RME UFX.

Thanks Lampdog. I'm going to grab a new toslink from sam ash in case I destroyed the new one by twisting it. I'll set sync to internal on mpc and sync to adat on echo audiofire, then get mad because it doesn't work and order the analog 8 outs and call it a day.

Try changing the clock source on the echo to adat.

And I had actually typed that same answer before, but I erased it thinking he'd try that just by experimenting, lol. I have my ufx getting external adat clock from 4k.

Thanks for all the help, everyone. Still haven't had success with the adat out, but in going through this process realized it would serve me better to learn how to use some tools in Logic better. I am now focusing on using ultrabeat and the EB2 in logic and triggering/sequencing with MPC. It's easy to chop drums I've already recorded out from the MPC and plop them in ultrabeat. Best of both worlds. Problem solved.
