Cool. I'm about to do the same with mine, gonna go with an external USB instead. Easier for organising files as well..

What about the new spin down function in the OS. You can turn off the HD when not using it.

if my laptop was dead quiet, and that will happen when I can afford a quiet one, it might be a cool idea to just use the laptops internal HD and load via akasys which is extreamly fast.. but hoenestly haveing a hd inside the 4k is a major advantage.. I have no idea why anyone would remove it especially with the no spin function... :?:
