Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000
By pillowhead_kiss Tue Jun 05, 2012 12:56 am
Im asking this on behalf of my companion. Hes been bugging me for years to figure out the solution to his problem. But the thing is that I have no idea what Im doing and know nothing of this sort of thing. I usually can fix and do any thing he wants by winging it but I need help this time.

He bought this outdated mpc 4000 that AKai wont support any more. He wants to drop samples in to in. The problem is that our computer is operated a windows 7. As far as I know its not compatalbe. Is this correct? Im so sick of trying to get that program to work. I correctley did it on Windows XP but failed on the last two computers that we have owned.

If the program is not compatable with Windows 7 then how can I fix it up to where he can drop samples in to the machiene?
Thanks

Listen here, I know you are trolling for that fool from earlier that couldn't get an answer.

Let me tell you something....

First, look at THIS site, upper-left corner. See that button that says MPC OS & MANUALS, yeah, that one...

DOWNLOAD THE DAMN MANUAL!!!

This will save you a lot of time and keep you from being annoyed by us readers here.
If you don't... Just look at my avatar....

Next, about ak.sys and Windows 7...
FORGET IT!

Hold on, I'll say it again.... FORGET IT NOW!!!

Now, shut up and listen.

There are so other options, you just don't want to use them...
Example:
1. Put the samples on a different medium... USB flash drive or burn a CD with the samples on it

2. Sample the sounds into the machine. That's what it is made for!

Your friend should feel special now. He got my half-drunken attention...

Peace!

I’m not a troll. I wouldn’t mind being a troll and I LOVE the movie Troll but Im just and old hag who sits around the house all day with these children who torture the hell out of me. Then there is this guy who goes out and works all of the time. He’s hardly ever home and when he is he wants to do whatever he wants to do. Be it be playing star craft or messing with his gear. Sometimes he takes the kids out for ice cream. Sometimes he sleeps. It just depends on how hot its been and if there was any over time involved.
He’s sort of a gear head. He buys all of this stuff with buttons, knobs and there are black wires all over my living room (his studio). The good thing about it is that our computer is set up to his studio monitors so when I watch something on Netflix it’s kind of like being in a theater. The bad part is he will buy stuff just to see if he likes it. If he doesn’t like it he wants me to sell it on Ebay where scammers and assholes are prevalent.
Now this guy is very important to me. He’s a great friend he’s really nice to look at not to mention that he slaves away at flooring company to pay for the bills. I really don’t mind wiping his ass for him because he’s very important to me. I would do all most any thing for him. I will mow and do his laundry. I will even put up with taking care of his mother which I’ve been doing for the past 7 years but IM NOT going to read that manual....there is no way. There is no way because it wouldn’t make a lick of sense to me. He won’t read it. He doesn’t have the time. That is why I’m on here asking so nicely and humbly for a little help. I’m so glad that some are drunk enough to care.
I’m just joking around all though nothing that I’ve said is a lie. I am really thankful for your help. I’m glad to know there are other ways to drop the sounds in and I’m excited to be able to act like I know what I’m talking about when I tell him the news.
As for a photo. Im really nothing to look at and I dont have time to figure out how to put one up any way. Not that I had intended to.

Buy an old 2004 used windows XP Laptop. Should be very economical and run AkSys like a champ.

Just took a quick look on eBay and saw G4 Mac Laptops for as low as $189.

Aww, you poor thing...
Most of us here are slaves to the beat of life here also. Most of us are fathers, husbands, sons, blue-collar, white-collar working stiffs that have lives too. The one thing we all have in common here is that we have a passion, a passion for these machines. We all have wives and girlfriends that are hopeless victims to our tinkering in our cramped homes and apartments. We annoy the ones we LOVE because of this quest. The quest for knowledge we dug through manual after manual, site after site, to achieve this satisfaction from the music we make.

Sorry for calling you a troll, you MIGHT just want to help the bloke. The best way to improve someone is to force him to learn. What you are asking for help with is THE MOST BASIC THING THESE MACHINES DO and HE HAS ONE OF THE BEST MACHINES MADE TO DO IT!!!

Do him a favor, grab the .pdf manual of this site. Go to your local office supply or printing store and have them print and bind a hard copy of the manual. This will cost you $20 of less. Say to that man..."I know you have a passion for this and I want you to achieve it. Please learn everything in this book and take it at your own pace and you WILL get better!!!"

My girl did this... and I wife'd her!!!
