Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

Hi,

I'm trying to sync my MPC4000 to Logic Pro 6 with a unitor 8 and wordclock in from a RME ADI-8 Pro. Both my Mac (1.25 MDD) and my MPC4K receive wordclock from the RME and The MPC is SMPTE master. Logic is set to listen to incoming MMC and LTC so there should be no problem....But unfortunately it doesn't sync up...tight!

It looks like the MPC4000 can't adapt to incoming wordclock because when I change the rate the mpc doesn't show any artifact meaning the audio is untouched...(maybe it doesn't lock in the first place)

Any suggestion would be much appreciated, please!?!?.....

No cant help you, but damn! ... you got a nice setup! An Andromeda + a 4k and a macintosh with an RME running Logic 6. How sweet is that!?

If the MPC is the master sync, then set it to transmit MTC out to the Unitor 8. Tell logic to receive MTC. (Unless you have a specific reason for using SMPTE). I don't know enough about your set up, but are you using the digital out from your MPC? If not then there is no reason to send it word clock.

Thanks! There are some issues that make me use SMPTE instead of MTC. The first is the tightness. Wordclock is supposed to be the timebase and SMPTE or MTC the position...seems I have a wordclock problem...

Hope to have it resolved soon! I'll post the solution for all to reference if the same prob is encountered.

Vank Out! :)
