Hi Summer 2000. Not sure iif you know or not. This is not an official forum for the MPC 4000.
There are some employees that crusie on here and answer some questions, but this
is NOT a place that Akai will pick up new ideas and new RFE's (Requests for Enhancement).
If you want the company itself (the ONLY people who can implement this) to do something
it about it, then you'll want to submit and RFE request to
[email protected]
There are no guarantees that they will incorporate it or if they do want to incorporate it
where on the list of feature requests that it will fall, but it will be considered at least, which
is more then you will get by posting it to this forum....
In regards to my thoughts on your request, I think it's good idea, but my feelings (not Akai's) is that they should implement the Different Bar lengths per Track feature
before implementing that.
If want to be able to "undo" something now, I save different versions of the program or
sequence, so that if I want to go back, I can. With the seperate track lenghs feature
NOT being implemented, I don NOT have any work around other then using a computer.
or making my 13 vocal at 13 bars, my Synth solo at 7 bars , and all the other tracks at 2 bars, then I have make a 182 bar sequence, so that they will all match up together.
This is an EXTREME waste of precious Sequence space, as well, as a very complicated
math puzzle as the number of tracks go up.
Figure this lowest common denominator and where the last bar will
be.
Track 1 - 23 bars
Tracik 2 - 17 bars
Track 3 - 2 bars
Track 4 - 3 bars
Track 5 - 43 bars
Track 6 - 5 bars
Now 6 tracks is a simple song, but boy do I have to do a bunch of math to figure
out where I can finally get all by tracks in sync together. Best guessis to
multiple 23 x 17 x 43 and then make sure that, that number is divisible by
2 & 3 & 5.
If Akai gave me the option, I 'll save my seqs and programs and get this feature
personally. But for people who make 2 or 4 bar tracks, this isn't so important.
So Akai gets the fun job of figuruing out the 1000 requests they have, and which
of those would make their instrument better for the most amount of users, within the
CPU and Memory constraints that are already there...
