alternatively you can select ext1 for step 8(instead of zone select)

8. In the slider section select the relevant PART or set it to ALL. Set Assign to ZONE SELECT and adjust the range to +000 > +100. Leave the Ctrl and MIDI fields as you found them.

Did you try it G? I didn't know you had a 4000... :shock:

Once again what I posted is the basic technique.

Different things will happen if changes are made, so if you discover any cool tricks please share them in this thread.

For all that did look further in the newbie bible page 4 on the bottom under the user GLIDE you would see the zone select functions plus other tricks to the 4k too. It is all there for all.

With all due respect I have read the newbie bible. We are not interested in random zone selection via LFO we want a specific round Robin type behaviour using q-links which is what this thread is about. The details and specific setup to achieve this is not posted elsewhere.

Glides post did help identify one of the missing links (realtime x-fade) but nothing more.

Give me some credit...Lol

:? It is the same thing lfo plus qlink control but whatever. The link has extra tips alot with it. All I stated was alot of the tips are in the thread and it was the same place I got the answer you ask me for.

Bucks it`s cool I was asked and I replied that is all exactly where I found it and most info in the Newbie bible. Semantics is all on how you word it. One way is manually using your qlink controller and the other is using a generator aka random lfo which is more akin to round robin like on the 5k. It is cool you guys are learning this on the 4k. You and I even talked about this back in April this year 2011 in another thread.

That's cool Haze man, it's just with the LFO i would assume that the hits will not go in order of the zones, if you missed a beat for example, wouldn't it then skip a zone if you get what i'm saying?
And also wouldn't the LFO make for a very rigid beat?

Well I would put it on a snare or percussion part with lfo sync to 1/4 notes with a square or random wave. And yes it would miss certain zones if you are working at faster timing like 1/16th. But the manually way using qlinks as clint described would give you the fine adjust to play it when you programmed it. And I do believe you can record it on a track as qlink data so all it good.

In my example I didn't use the LFO.

Simply put, the Q-Link slider alone is used to select which of up to four samples (zones) triggers when you hit a single pad. So at the top of its movement sample 1 is triggered, a quarter of the way down it switches to triggering sample 2. Halfway down the slider begins to trigger sample 3, and the final quarter of slider travel triggers sample 4. Naturally the slider can be manipulated live or the movements are automatically recorded to the sequencer.

Using the slider gives more control over which sample/zone is triggered rather than going through a predetermined cycle.

The footswitch method cycles through the pad banks in a predetermined manner, but I haven't tested this.

There are many other ways of selecting samples/zones using the mod matrix.
