MAC formatted drive for my MPC4000

i just got a new mac formatted external HD for my mac book but would like to use it to back up all the work on my MPC4000 it has firewire and USB 2.0 on the drive
Does anyone know if this drive can work. I already have 33GB of stuff on it from the MAC.
I just dont want to lose any work on the MPC nor mess with any of the MAC files already on the xtnal HD.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It should work over the 4000's front USB port and transfer at the USB 1.1 speed of the MPC's port.

But the drive would have to be formatted FAT32 rather the HFS+ that I'm sure it defaulted to when setting it up, or out the box if was sold as a Mac specific drive. You can do this FAT32 formatting in OS X Disk Manager.

you will have to format the drive as a pc type format, for it to work
