USB Jump drives

Hi all,
I was wondering about advantages of USB Jump drives. What are the advantages
of them. Is the main advantage, that you can pull it out and put it in your pocket as well
as easily transferring files between computer and MPC?

If so , then it's not much use for me. In the studio at home, my USB is plugged into the computer all the time, so I can easily transfer that way. When I'm not in my studio,
my MPC 4000 is with me, so I'll just load from harddrive. I don't know any one else
with a MPC 4000, so it's no use for me to just bring my files along to jam on their box.

Is it any faster then the internal harddrive when loading?

I would go buy one and try it out, but to be honest, all my extra money is going to
my Son's christmas presents, where it should be going So I"m just doing some research for next years purchases.

But if it was a quicker load time, it might be useful for me during my live gigs.


I've seen threads on them here, but nobody discussed what the advantages are , they were just trying to see which ones would probably work.

jump driver = usb stick - right? .... haven't one either .... but sometimes i used the one of a mate ... didn't have the impression that it is any faster as the internal harddisc ... it rather seemed slower to me ... guess its the same as aksys ... but thats just an impression i had - so dunno - its just 3-4 times that i used one ... so i d say - if you ain't a stressed out person you won't even notice any difference in the speed ... last time though i used a 512 mbyte one and i gotta admit that its somehow sexy to have the possibility to save your entire memory there ... but still - i guess your son will play much more often with his christmas present as you with that stick ...
