Auditioning sound problem.

Anyone had a problem, when auditioning sounds, where the beginning or end of sample is slightly scratchy, and the sound stops at slightly different times on the L and R side, but when the sound is loaded into RAM it is fine.
Is this a known bug, or is it a hardware fault.
