Hello, Ive had my MPC 4000 since April and got a Kurzweil k2600R about a week and a half ago and I was wondering a couple of things about Transfering / Exchanging samples between the two of them.
This is the first time I will be using SCSI and I'm kind of nervous about it, Everytime I read anything about hooking up SCSI in most manuals they make it seem like if you hook it up the wrong way its gonna make ur gear explode or something if its not "terminated" correctly, whatever that word means.
1) The MPC 4000 uses a 50 Pin connector and the K2600R uses a 25 Pin connector, is this a problem, do I have to buy a special Transformer or something to connect the two of these, or is can I buy a simple cable that has 25 pins on one end and 50 pins on the other end.
2) I just found out last night that the K2600r already has an Internal Hard Drive installed, BUT!!!!!....... IF IT DID NOT ALREADY HAVE AN INTERNAL HARD DRIVE, could I have used my MPC 4000 as an external SCSI hard drive for my K2600, Know what I mean??? In other words When I hook up the K2600 to the 4000 would the K2600 see the 4000 as just an external SCSI Hard drive.
3) If I was using AKAI. SYS, Would the K2600r's Internal Hard drive show up in Akai .sys. In other words, Would Akai .Sys see the K2600r's internal hard drive as an external hard drive. Would I then be able to drag and drop files into and out of my K2600r's hard drive from AKAI. Sys
4) Finally, Would I be able to use my MPC 4000's internal CD-R drive to read KURZWEIL Sample CD's from the K2600? I figure IF my K2600 could See the 4000 as if It were a external CD drive then I wouldnt have to go out and buy a SCSI CD Rom Drive. Yes, I know that the MPC 4000 CAN NOT read KURZWEIL CD's because I have already tried it, but maybe the K2600 can read them from the 4000, know what I mean?
Thanks in advance for any advice and Merry X-mas to y'all
