What are the must have roms for proteus 2k besides planet phatt rom? I play hip-hop, r&P, and contemp gospel.

I've had mu proteus 2k since it came out on the market and its still stock
and the only sound mod that I have ever had until recently with the VSTI's.

I had the P2K with the pure phatt, techno, and beat garden roms. I found there were too many sounds and you always went through them again and again because you knew there was a better sound there somewhere... kinda like when you've got 1000 tv channels.
It sucked in the end and stood me at too much money, so I split all the cards and sold the lot, putting the money into the Emulator-X which comes with the P2k soundset and a "Hip hop producer" soundset anyway, plus you get a dope soundcard and still have change left from the hardware box.
I'm no fan of software, but it makes total sense when I can get the same sounds (and more) for much less money. I still sequence it all from the 4000 in stand alone mode and it rocks, plus you can sample with the thing if you really need more power than the 4000 can offer (does that ever happen? I dunno).

i own the protean drum rom, the mophatt, and the zr-76 rom.
I would say, if you really want a piano, the zr-76 rom kills.....Compared to my triton, it smokes it....i really like, even compared to the motif or roland. for hiphop it sounds nice and doesnt sound cheesey.
the rest of the sounds on the zr-76 are okay...i mean there are some good synth sounds...and if you really edit your sounds youll find good use. The organs are good too. However, i still feel like i want more strings, and brass. Overall id say its worth it.
However, i think im gonna get the proteous rom next. Because i would like a more complete sound set.
The protean drum rom came when i got my px7...i wouldnt recomend it to anyone. I mean really. if you own the mpc, and sample your drums, you dont need it. YEAH IT IS NICE the drums are nic, but, i dont think its worth the money. Because with all the emu roms, you get drums, and the drums are good on all modules. What you dont get alot of is more instruments...so i wouldnt fill your expansion slots up with drums, when you will get some with another rom. ya know?
anyways, i plan on making a sample cd with some of those drums...they will be tweaked a bit...
anyways....Overall id say go for the proteaous 2k rom. Because it offers the most variety, and ther will be something in there for sure usefull. But you could probaly get use out of any of them
my next rom will be the vintage keys, and the proteous rom...i plan on sampling all the drums on the protean drum rom, and loosing it.
I think i might sample all the sounds on the mophatt, so i have another slot.
btw. beware because there are 3 roms that are named similar: protean, proteous, and protazoa. The protean is the drum rom, the proteous is the same rom in the p2k and pk-6, the protazoa is the sound set of the old proteaous modules before the p2k existed...and its only 16mb compared to the rest of the roms that are 32mb.

I have the vintage rom, which has some great sounds and also xlead which is also great, I put in the proteus pop rom for piano and strings but not all the sounds are good on this one ,but it help me round off my collection of misc. and general sounds, I have all of those loaded in a turbo phatt which gives me wide variety of sounds
