MPC 4000 how do you use a midi keyboard

I have an old school midi keyboard with the original midi Jacks

I've plugged the in to the out and the out to the in on the synth and mpc

In the midi monitor menu I can see it's detecting inputs from the keyboard but
When I go into the Main menu and I click keys there is no input detection anymore

I don't know how to add sounds to the individual keys

sorry am newbie and disappointed no one replied your question as it's probably pretty basic.

to play internal sounds from the 4000 with your midi keyboard i believe you need these sounds to be set up in a program or keygroup i suppose and they will be mapped correctly on your keyboard ( i never use this feature).

when in main screen make sure your OUTS are assigned to the right program/keygroup.
