3.0 with modmatrix comparable with 4k

So .. did 3.0 just drop an advance sampler mode with all the old filters and mod matrix ala 4k?

If so .. will it read the 4k & Z series program file formats and translate all my old 4k programs with modulation on the 3.0?

Unlikely that they would spend the time worrying about porting over every setting in an MPC4000 program, plus AKP file support is apparently no working at all ATM. From what I remember, the most it ever did was remember the basic keygroup structure and sample assignments, no transfer of even basic filter, LFO or envelope settings etc.

Well I remember someone doing a video on it and it did read the envelopes and filter to a hit and miss ability IIRC

Akai should dentally look into mirroring the AKP files, there is great Z8 4k content out there and likely a few thousand users (potentially customers) with two decades of user libraries they love to transfer over ..


Really this 3.0 is da bomb ..
the additional harmonizer, step mod and de-tuning not to mention the loop-able envelopes, mixable dual filters ... don't care too much about the NI stuff .. but this ..man they just turned the entire range into a monster playground for samplist ..

still prefer the sound of my 4k thou Ha! ..
but NuMPCs are easily adjusted (class compliant) to top quality via multiple outs and a good modular built analog board or ES9 into euro-rack running all sorts of VCAs VCFs mojo giving you tracks more separation and mix dimension ..

Anyway I hope someone writes akai a ticket about this, I cant see it being much of an effort vs how advanced their code skill-set is,
even if its not 100% it would still save 100s of hours of work if one where to reset/reprogram inn their Gigs worth of sound design..

so best to load up AKP files in 2.15.1 & then save as before you upgrade to 3.XXµ

-the real problem here is how to save as/convert to AKP again after you done your SHT in MPC x/live/...
(because i do like the re-arrange pads functionality there, something i don't have in my 4k)

Just discovered it doesnt support sound layers.. so nope, it will not read 4k modmatrix..

guess one yould use the pad layer function to achive the same ..but that wont help with translating /loadin in 4k files ..
