Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

I'm trying to decide whether to buy a MPC4000 or the Roland MV-8000. I currently have a MPC1000 but I have WAY to many samples, so I need move on. I know how the 1000 works, so is the 4000 work in a way like 1000? I also know the 8000 is relatively cheaper than the 4000, which makes a small difference. The 4000 burns CDs but what's the hard drive capacity? The last question I have is is there a VGA Expansion Board you can hook up so you have a screen connected for better viewing? Thanks

If you had used the search function you would have found tons of posts about 4000 vs 8000.

Anyway:

max hd size isnt verified afaik but I have a 120gb in mine and that works just fine. Theoretically 127gb would be the limit due to specifiacation limitations but afaik this hasnt been tested. Someone will probably correct me on this.

There is no vga expension board and there never will be.

Someone else can give you the answer on the 1000 vs 4000.

I went from a 1k to a 4k....there was an adjustment period....roughly about a month when I felt like throwing the 4k out the window....but it was worth the extra doe and frustration.

If you know your way around a 1k you should be making use of the basic features right away. However there are a lot of lil things here and there that will frustrate the hell out of you for the 1st lil while.
