is the vynil amplifier integrated in the 4000 good enough ?

hey,

I ve been sampling vynils from a Stanton turntable directly in the phono input of the 4000 for quite some time now, using the MPc 4000's built in RIAA amplifier.
Do you think I would get a better sound using a DJ mixer or another RIAA amp than the one included in the 4000 ?

cos I never tried it (I never bought a DJ mixer due to their costs) and I was wonderin if any of ya'll ever tried to compare the sound quality sampling with the built-in amp or with another one from a DJ mixer....

no need for one more step of preamplification

you would probably get worse sound quality becuase its one more link in the chain... = more noise.

I've tried both and now go from my turntable to my dj mixer to a 12 chanel analog mixer then into the 4000. I think it's better becuase it gives more opions for ur sample, i personally love it cuz i can boost the bass and i'm able to adjust the sample the way i want it to sound before i record it into the 4000. I don't the sound quality is lost at all, but if what ur using is working then stick with it.

Yeah...the pre-amp sounds real good, but you may want to use a mixer for eq'ing You can EQ the sounds you are sampling while your sampling them within the 4k, but the eq's aren't as good as what you find on a decent mixer.

I have my TT hooked up to the MPC4000. I then record the output directly into mp PC via ADAT. Apply FX and such. Then send it back to the MPC via ak.sys

I've been hooking up to the MPC directly lately and the phono preamp sounds pretty damn good imo. I also sample through an xone 6:2 and it sounds great as well plus I can engage the filters which sound awesome. If you are only using vinyl to sample then I would probably plug straight into the 4k though. If you have multiple sources then a nice mixer comes in really handy

Ive just very recently started sampling from vinyl into my MPC4000 and the sound level is always either way too high (distortion) or way too low (too much "overhead" noise / not maxing out my gain structure).

I flip the switch on the back of the 4000 to phono and adjust the Record Knob all the way up... with the gain button pressed in.... there is too much distortion with it un-pressed there is too much hiss.

BUT.....

When I plug my Numark PT-01 (i know i should get a real turntable)...when I plug the numark into my Mic/Line inputs of the 4000 using a RCA to 1/4" adaptor... It sounds just fine.

Are my phono jacks &/or the RIAA pre-amp broken?
