Ok, without being patronising, I would start off by reading as much as you can on midi and audio... they are two totally different things... do a search in google and search for midi (what is midi etc) promise it'll help.
For what you are trying to do, (scratching and recording your beats from the mpc, start off with something simple... just one audio track (stereo)
and plug the outputs from the mpc into the inputs of your protools.. then
press the R button in pro tools which will arm the track to record. now press record in pro tools and then hit play on the mpc and you'll see the audio file being recorded. then once you've recorded that audio track, make a new stereo track and plug the output from your turntable mixer into protools and repeat the above steps to record the scratches...
so on and so on, which is called tracking (because you record tracks.... it's quite simple really) bare in mind this is really a simplified explanation and once you get a little more confident, you can try to sync your mpc to pro tools... and record one sound at a time on separate tracks, which you can then mix with the fx in pro tools.
the midi tracks in pro tools are only there to send info to your synths to tell them to play the notes from your sound modules but as I said, do some research in google and find some info... the more you know the better you'll get....
