4k + lowering sample rate quick question...

New Owner asking.. I'm in the manual and learning this machine inside-out, and cannot find it anywhere.

Can I ask.., can I lower my sample rate lower than 16bit?. Id ideally like to be able to do this on some hats and other sounds (drop to 8bit/6bit). How do i do this? also, Is it possible to use sounds with mixed sample rates in my tunes? eg: some at 2bit, some at 8bit, some at 16 and 24bit?

First of all samplerate and bitdepth are two different things. They can be changed independently. The samplerate corresponds with the frequency range of a digital audio signal. A higher samplerate results in a wider frequency range. Bitdepth corresponds with the number of possible amplitude levels in a digital audio signal. Higher bitdepths result in more defenition in the dynamic range.

To answer your question. On hardware level (A/D & D/A converters) the lowest bitrate in the MPC is 16bit. However you can resample your samples in sample edit mode to virtyually lower the bitrate of a sample. This does not change anything on hardware level, it just changes the sound of the sample err... a bit
