sampling from turntable

i am want to know if you need a mixer to sample from the turntable on the 4000. i currently own a 2000 and you can sample withouth the mixer but without the mixer the sample sounds weak. i want to know if this the same case with the 4000.

The MPC 4000 has a built in pre amp. I still use a mixer because I am used to doing so with the 2000 and 3000. I have heard the preamp on the 4000 would suffice but I can not attest to it myself.

PS: I do not suggest sampling without a mixer into the 60, 1000, 2000, 3000. You need to boost that signal to line level.

thats exactly what i am saying. i have 2000xl and with out the mixer the signal is weak.

or you could get a turntable with a line out like the stanton STR8 series.

you really dont need a mixer, I use a gemi 5000 turntable and the samples sounds cool.

It works good without a mixer..........thats what i use.

You dont need a mixer to lay cuts over your beats either. Because there is an option called "resample" you can sample while the sequence is playing. I use this to match up and preview samples for the drum patterns i got going on in the mpc.
