ight i've been trying to decide between an mpc with a midi controller and rack, or just a workstation like the motif es7. my biggest problem is that i love to sample and play my own live things on the keyboard, BUT, i also love the feel of thepads and how easy it is to sequence. BUT at the same itme, i dont wanna miss out on the power of the mpc. i would get a 4k and a motif but i cant afford it, and even if i could it woudl take me a year to configure both to work right. i love the fact that i can sample st8 from a turntable to an mpc, but i also want to play my own shyt live and not worry about having a big as sound library. BOth machines are real powerful and i love the feel of both, but i'm just getting caught up between pads (that i love) with easy sequencing, or just a complete workstation that already has everything for me? PLEASE HELP!, i've researched on both machines and can get around pretty easily on both...HELP HELP HELP!

get what your gonna get the most out of for now, and then the other one later. but playing drums on the keyboard is defintely not the same as hittin' them pads.

people will be inclined to recomnend the mp4k over other gear because this is a forum dedicated to that. I like the 4000 a lot but i think that if you can get loose on a keyboard that has onboard sounds you like you should give it a try. there is definitely an appeal from a strictly musical POV to having everything you need in one machine (given that you can work on the machine efficiently and easily). i need to start up 4 midi modules in addition to the MPC and while it gives me the sound i want it would be nice to have everything integrated. i would just make sure you have a sampler there so you can personalize your sound and style. ultimately you dont need an mpc 4000 to make hot songs. im not trying to sound cliche but there are no rules when it comes to selecting your gear

To be honest your eventually gonna need both but for now pick one that you can get the most out of at the moment then get the other later.
