Hi folks,
After a relation of love and hatred towards my MPC4k, I decided to ended this weekend. I sell my mpc4k for 3000$ canandian this Friday. In nearly 2 years I would have lost 2400$ canadian and much more in time consuming to do my work with this tool. It's a nice tool, but I can achieve more work in a faster way with a computer and a midi controler.
When the MPC1000 will hit the market, even if we cannot compare it with the MPC4000, prices will goes down considerably.
And in the history of Akai, never such a product got such a bad reputation, so they will probably do the same thing as they did with the s5000-s6000 series... give a last OS update before they'd dropped the Z series. MPC4K versus MPC2500 probably. Anyway technologie goes fast in a capitalism way of work it's kind of normal!!!
After all the frustration (after an other long talk with my layer - who told me to give up before a lose even more money in a lawsuit against Akai on false advertissing) I decided to use a more portable way of doing my work in a live p.a. situation (machinedrum + 1 laptop 1 RME ultiface) that I can bring with me in the airplane cabine (Remember me some Flo's adventure in Russia...).
With that money, I will certainly by an other laptop + the akai pad controler last piece of shit I will ever buy from them... and maybe, like Jimi hendrix... I will put it on fire in front of a scene monitor... trying to get some feedback of it!

All respect to Darryl, DRK, Feline, FLO, Glenn, Babu ... we will meet somewhere in a different hardware newsgroup for sure.
Thanks David Whittle for your support... Not against you... but Akai... Normally a customer who had a bad experience with a product will talk to 13 other persons... for me, with all the web forums, I will reach at least... 10,000 persons... maybe more
I hope that will help Akai to test their products before they put it on the market... you can't treat your customer as beta tester anymore!

This is what I receive from someone that I can't relate... but this list is following up... and some people are working to make that machine way much better. But it will not change my idea for tomorrow... maybe I will have a chance in 1 or 2 year to buy an other mpc4k... history will see.
So it goes like this :

Basically my company has recently been contracted by AKAI to develop
software for the MPC4000 and I wanted to say that we are very committed to
develop the MPC in order to realise its full potential.
We can not promise to satisfy every users problems/wishes straight away
but we are planning a series of new updates for the MPC with the first
targeted for release towards the end of this year.
I realise you have probably passed on your complaints to David Whittle and
I apologise in advance for asking this but it would be very useful for me
to know what your main problems are directly should you wish to give me
the information.
I would be grateful if you would be so kind as to not publish my email
address on any AKAI forums. I am not a customer support representative of
AKAI and there is no way I could deal with every bug report/feature
request/problem experienced by MPC4000 users.

No, we will be directly involved in programming the o/s for the MPC
itself. Hopefully we will be able to upgrade AkSys also but at the moment
we have not be asked to do this.
Of the problems that you mention, I can give you some immediate answers,
though some I can not yet say as we have not assigned a priority to every
single bug report/feature request as yet. We are going to try to address
the problems that many users have reported first, together with some
feature implementations.
From the yahoo list and some of the things you mention, these following
problems are definitely being looked into for the next o/s release:
* Speed of multi and program change is too slow
* FX level/distortion problems
* Note repeat button adds extra notes
We are also planning to implement a PAD mixer and 16-levels of tuning,
both of which have been major requests from users.
We realise auditioning samples from disk is a high-priority request but we
don't think it is possible for us to manage to implement this yet.
There are also many smaller bugs/problems that we will address within the
next release.
From your own list:

say exactly a release date at this time.
With regard to AKAI developers being active on a user forum, yes I agree
but really this is up to AKAI Japan. There have been major changes in the
company recently and maybe they will be receptive to this idea now. The
developers within my company do however monitor the AKAI mailing list and
the yahoo MPC forum.

I don't want to be assholes to these guys but they've been ducking and dodging for too long, and for my $3000 bucks I'll be damned if I can't voice my opinion loud and clear.
