MV-8000 or mpc-4000 or mc-909

Yes, I think the MV-8000 will be better quality than the MPC4000 but it is going to work differently from that machine. This makes it difficult to compare the two because Roland's sequencer technology works in a different way. It should offer pattern based sequencing--something the MPC doesn't have. Roland's current products have no grid step sequencing (they use a piano roll). I hope they include grid step in the new machine. They had a long time to study the MPC market and perfect the MV-8000. It should be bug-free or near so.

If you need a sequencer-sampler right now then buy the MPC2000XL because your loss won't be as great as with the MPC4000 if you decide to switch to the MV-8000 later. Can you wait six weeks? Then go with the MPC1000. My advice to you is not to rush into the MV-8000 because this is a new product for Roland. They MIGHT have a few things to learn yet from their parts suppliers and things their customers discover the machine can and can't do.

my 4000 (not le) was 2300 brand new. that takes a mv8000 out of the equation

personally I think if you can't make great tunes with the 4k you won't on the mw eather

.. sure I love and I mean really love some of the sequencing features roland has come up with like live triggers ect (although in a live set the 4k can have resampled whole phrases to trigger as samples but this is not as accessable/fast as being able to trigger sequneces on the fly on top of other sequneces and the variphrase is a leap forward when it comes to sampling its truly amasing stuff, well done Roland!! the MW might very well be exelent but I'm sure it will have a daft side...just look at the surfice of the two!! the last roland product I had was heavily menu driven and that mc909 is a walking clue for terrible..

and to look at sound quality, it's not like folks are raving about the sound of their new samplers,,.. 96k vs where are the highs ..

imo what it all comes down to when choseing a unit like this (the core) is the interface! the mpc is very much one surface with few sub menus and the file managing is the best out there!! as is the interface & sound

but I'm tottaly standing from a pre djudgemental veiw..

I must say I like the idea of importing acid files and on the fly timestretching - the audio files are interesting too, u could put all your vocals and live bits on them - an MPC that could do that sh*t would be a thing to behold. Roland's fx are nicer than Akais too... if the MPC4000 sorted out its operating system its probably still no contest... or maybe it is... be great to hear from anyone whose had the chance to compare these two babyies side by side
