why?
besides the keymapping sampler, what seperates the 4000 from the 3000 coupled with a sampler like say the s5000 both with hard drives.
what im getting at is dude here has to figure how he wants to work before making decisions, i just sold my 2000XL for a 3000 because i liked the working on the 60. and wanted a 60 i could hook up to a hard drive with nice resonant filters, more memory and effects, aka the 3000. feel me. even if it takes buying, trading and reselling on eBay for a half a year thats what hes gonna have to do if hes serious about making music.

The 3000 is like at the other end of the continium from the 4000. You are looking at like opposite products. Most people that still use the 3000, use it because they swear it has a unique sound quality that the 2000xl, and certainly the 4000 don't have. Personally, I don't agree but hey, that's me. Anyway, if you own the 2000xl, I am sure you know the differences between the 4000 and the 3000....3000 has about 1/10th the functionality of the 4000. The 4000 is riddled with bugs and is a bloated system that requires a much larger learning curve than the rest of the MPC line.

Because, the 4k has more features, even if half of them don't work properly. some new gear has bugs that can be fixed with updates of the OS. When/if the 4k gets an update and fxes many of the bugs it will maybe be the monster it is truly supposed to be. Some like the 3k, some are die hard 4k, some like me have a 2kxl and don't have a preferrence.
But for the features set, the 4k dominates, like natedogg, you can't deny that. Nothing coupled just the MPC vs MPC itself. 4k dominates. It's up to the person though.

Why ask why when you know the answer is in the specs. You want to "couple" more gear to make it better than the 4k when you originally asked what makes seperates 4k from 3k. Coupling hardware with the 3k is a different story, ya feel me?
