PRICE INCREASE ON 4000 LE ?

WTF!
Is this akai s idea of some kind sick joke? Well im not laughing......
Just checked musicians friend and the le is now $600.00 more.
Whats going on here? I was considering upgrading from my 2kxl
after checking out the 4k, but now this is just pissing me off......
Anybody know what happened?????

They also allow you to make payments with no interest.
American Musical has the 4000LE with Digital IO for 1899.

man thats crazy.....akai is actin a fool cuz they at the top of the hill of sequencers...."they like if you dont like the price then buy a mv8000". where is the cheapest place i can cop a damn 4000? they gon phuck around and make me cop a pc wit da mpd 16 or worse a mpc 1000....im tryin to resist the temptation...

This does not look like AKAI. It's the retailers raising the prices with Musician's Friend making the biggest increase on the LE. zzounds and Same Day Music are selling the LE for $1,900. If you were waiting month after month, then it's your own fault. You can't expect prices to stay the same forever. Prices usually decline, but not when something is in short supply, and not when the retailers know consumers have plenty of money to spend this holiday season. Last chance for a nice white, black, and blue one. The ugly new color models will be replacing them soon.

sounds like im better of buying one off ebay....?? is the blue one any better than the other one....personallly i think the blue one is ugly.....

The eBay prices for the MPC4000 have been going up for a few months. You'll probably pay $1,800 for one with a hard drive. There aren't many without it any more. As the summer ended the prices hit bottom. The ones that were selling for $1,300 are long gone. There are fewer MPC4000's on eBay now. The demand for them is higher than a few months ago too. According to AKAI the only difference between the white model and the new blue model is the color. I paid over $3,200 for mine, though it isn't an LE of course. I would never sell this machine. It is one of my favorites.

can you tell me what you enjoy so much about it as opposed to a 2000xl....i been tryin find this out for like a month now...

I love the crisp sound of my MPC2000XL. But the abundance of features, large display, USB with ak.sys, and other things make the MPC4000 a more powerful and easy to use machine. The user interface is so much better you will like it. The difference is like night and day.

the thing is i need an all in one machine as opposed to gettin a pc and doing everything virtual.....no one has been able to tell me if the 4000 can do it all or not...i make hip hop rnb drum and bass and reggae....

The MPC4000 is perfect for what you described. Here's the problem. You do better by using any MPC, including the 4000, with software on the PC. It's easier to trim samples and make loops using Adobe Audition or Sound Forge than it is to use any MPC for the same purpose.

Another thing is sampling. If you buy a sample CD in Audio format you have to sample from the MPC4000 CDR or an external drive. That takes a long time--way too much time. With Adobe Audtion you can create a batch file to convert a folder loaded with files in a matter of minutes instead of the hours or days it would take you to do that on the MPC.

Software does some things better than an MPC. You can't get away from it if you want the best results.

And for $3200+ i hope you like your white one better than the new blue one, and im glad i waited for akai to fix their bugy software and lower the price by half (when they intuduced the le model.)
And btw if i had 3200+ i just might be tempted to go buck wild with 5 hookers(bigbressteded) half a pound of weed and a cheap hotel room. hahahaha Cant wait to get my hands on a blue 4k.

help yourself out for fukks sake. the time you spend on a forum asking the same question is time you could be ringing up places, asking quotes or checking online.


most serious musicians and studio owners, myself included, stick with one or two pro music stores and build up a relationship with that store. most music hardware sellers coompete so much that you can only push the whole "get a quote and shop around" so far, which will give you the same result usually if a pro store knows you and respects that youve stuck with them

i hate these "supermarket" style music stores with fukkwit salesmen who dont know anything.
