HELP WITH 4000 PLEASE!

aight...i just got it today. i got the 4000, 2 roland monitors, a stanton sk-6 mixer, and a turntable hooked up...im having problems with connections. the monitors only have 2 rca outlets on them and a headphone outlet, they dont have the guitar line outlets. i also do NOT have 8 outs on the mpc.


so...i hooked up the turntable rca to the channel 1 on the mixer. everything is definitely fine there...next i hooked up the output guitar line of the mixer (i put it on the master output, but there are also outlets that say SEND and RECIEVE but i was told that those outlets are for effects.) so i put the master output of the mixer into the line IN for the MPC. when i do this, i look at the screen on the mpc and when i play a record on the table, i get nothing coming IN on the mpc. i cant see any volume goin on in there, no activity.

anyone know anything im doin wrong here?


also...with the monitors i got, i was told that you need to put the lines from the monitor into the output of the mpc. but, the monitors only have RCA outlets and the mpc MAIN OUT are the guitar line outlets. is there any kind of adapter or was i told to put the monitors in the wrong spot or somethin? or do you need 8 outs for this? whats going on?


ALSO...a main problem, is even without anything connected, there are still sounds that came with the mpc right? but when i put in headphones in the mpc, i cant hear anything but 2 samples that are quiet. they are on pads 15 and 16...does anyone know whats going on here?

Is your Input Source in the Record page set to "Analog In"? Is the Gain switch on Low? Have you adjusted the Rec Gain control?

Do you understand the concepts of Multi, Program, and Sample? If not, then begin there. Unlike the other MPC's, you cannot necessarily just load a program and expect to start making beats.

thanks for the quick reply. but scratch the headphone problem, the adapter i had was bad...but yea, this is my first mpc - period. and my first day havin it, i dont really understand the concepts of it yet. but there is loaded up sounds on there, so im just trying to get it connected where i can have the monitors pushing out sound from the mpc and the table and mixer correctly.

oh and i dont understand what you mean by Is your Input Source in the Record page set to "Analog In"? but the gain switch is on high, and i did adjust the rec gain control to about the middle so i should be able to see something comin through from the table.

ok, i got the monitors hooked up to the mpc output where it says L and R. but im having trouble on hookin up the mixer still so i can hear the turntable playing records through the monitors. on the mpc there is the phono/line input with rca jacks, and theres the line/mic input where you put the 1/4" guitar line in.

so on my mixer (the stanton sk-6), i got the SEND and RETURN outlets and the MASTER outlet that you can put the 1/4" guitar lines into. and then there is the MASTER and RECORD outlets that you can put RCA cords into...

i understand now mpc_producer, and thats exactly what it was...i had the damn thing on digital instead of analog. thanks mang.

oh and is 24bit worth using?
