The 4k is one of the most precise sequencers I have ever used. As far as dance music goes the sampler is good for this style of music, ultimately its you that makes the music and not the equipment.
I'm finding the the lcd display / sequencing method much more humane than looking into my 22" monitor (a little warped I know but it really works). There is something about the instant gratification that the MPC gives. No worry about MS automatic updates / virus scanners, hackers just you and and warehouse sized box pumping out potential corkers.
In terms of sound quality I have no complaints the top end cuts like a razor and the bass is accurate enough to shake even the most hardened bass cadet.
I'm very new to this great unit but having read the manual and updated the OS to 1.45 it still leaves me with a host of new found worlds to explore in audio experimentation.
