what is the beat machine for 2004

Nothing, I mean nothing can touch the Roland Fantom-S. Best machine I have ever used. I would never want to go back to being limited by technology again. I can make this machine sound just like a Sp1200!

Check out the track "A Shadow in the Darkness" - It kind of a clean keyboardish track, but I got a new one I am working on that is really grimey (in a Pete Rock Sp1200 way). The Fantom-S is an unbelievable machine. Easy to use. I think it is easier than a MPC!

Fantom-S is tight don't get me wrong but the HOTTEST Workstation out right now is the Motif ES!

The Motif doesn't have any drum pads, therefore it can't be hotter by default

I have to go with the MPC4000.

The 4000 has no sounds in it therfore it can't be the hottest.

The Motif ES don't need pads I have the MPC 1000 for that! Plus the Fantom-S pads are not better then the MPC's pads! Matter of fact I was fu!ckin around on da Fantom-S pads at the Guitar Center and they suck! The ES is the Workstation to get! KORG is suppose to drop a New Workstation Jan. 15th at Winter NAMM then the Motif ES might have some comp! Until then the Motif ES is the hottest workstation out right now! The ES it's no joke!

You have to set the response on the pad. They are way better than an mpc. They don't ever double trigger like the mpc does. Yamaha has a long way to go before they will make a good keyboard. Yahmaha has always been crap and maybe always will be. The fantom-s is unstopable. Can a motif do skip back sampling...nope. Case in point.

NOPE the Fantom-S pads are not better then the MPC's pads you crazy! The Motif ES is a better all-around workstation! I would like a rack version of the Fantom-S cuz it does have some tight sounds but far as my workstation in my studio it has to be the Triton or the Motif ES and I picked the Motif ES!
