reconsidering acquiring the Mpc 4000

Hello all; it's been a while; i've been on a different path in the music world doing some insane multi editing. www.micmacrecords.com I go by my actual name with The One as the nickname (Dave The One Mendez)
This particular genre of music is on the rise once again; Kelis' latest cd (track 7) has this genre's signature sound. Anyhow opportunities are surfacing and I'm reconsidering production again; sor here goes:

1 Coming from an extensive computer setup that does everything; convince me why I should get this again.

2; how much should I pay for an mpc 4000 LE these days/ new or used?

Currently I have all the appz (softsamplers/vsti-s/reason/daw/midi software/ w oxygen 8 keyboard; mpd 16 Emu; Xl-1 Turbo/Mo Phatt/Carnaval

Just do your thing kid. You know the benefits to each. I personally use hardware and software in a very symbiotic way. I don't know how I could live without either.

what software do you use ?

I have a mackie D8b and software on the screen is the mixers..but for recording I use logic and protools

I picked up an MPC4000 LE for about $1500 & I bought 512mb ram, 80 gig hd & Plextor CDRW for an additional $175. Ever since the MPC4000 LE came out, I've been happy with it. You can check out some of my tracks at the links below that I created with the MPC4000 LE.

Was this new or used? If new where did you get it. I would like to pick one up at this or close to this price.

the 002 is good from what I hear..I use the 001 and it works great for what I am doing.....I transfer 8 tracks at a time (adat) into the computer when dumping the tracks...interfaces also work good in logic and reason..so you should be fine...but why not say a 001 and a yamaha 01v digital mixer?

My man told me I had to learn pro Tools because it is an industry standard that's why I though of the Digi002...

do you think it's not that good a choice ?

naw the 001 is just a pci version card and interface with 32 track protools le its cheaper than the 002 but it doesn't have any external control surface..either way you can't go wrong..I think learning protools is very much needed ..when I sell tracks I put them on a dvd-r disc and pass it out.

that's why I thought the Digi 002 was a good solution

here are the prices where I'm located:
Digi 001 1,422
Digi 002 2,390

Yamaha 01V 1,390
Yamaha 01x 1,549

an 01V+ a 001 would be 1422+1390=2812
it's like 500$ more expensive than the 002, but if it's really worth it I could make the difference

do you know what's the difference between Yam 01x and yam 01x ?
(this might sound a dumb question, but I dunno much about studio gear, and I want my first buys to be the best, 'cos all the gear I'm gonna cop represents a lot of months of work, so I wanna be sure what I buy is the best I could get)

do you think I should get a 001 + a mixing surface ?
I mean, maybe the 002 mixing surface is not as good as a 01v?

digi002 control surface can only be used with Pro Tools LE, meaning its just a firewire sound card, when you load up logic etc

Question would be is the yamaha compatible with PT, and digi 002 is firewire and comes in mixer or rack version, digi 001 has the pci card which in the case of G5, people had to ditch the digi 001 cause the pci didnt fit
