Too buy or not to buy, that is the question.

I'm thinking of buying an MPC 4000 . I was about to go for the XL but I decided to go better than that.But now I hear people talk about bugs in the system and crackling in the sounds? Should I wait for buying this or what? I know there's nothing better at making beats than Akai's MPC.

I have no prblem with my 4000. I dont know anything about crackling sounds. The 1.45 os is pretty stable. We are just waiting for the 1.51 to come out so we can get some the features that were promised. The 4000 is for producers looking for a all in one machine. The 2000 is a drum/midi sequencer. You decide which one that you need.

I didn't mention that I have an MPC 2000.I've had it since the year it came out.I pretty much out growed it and looking to upgrade.This is what I'm looking for is an all in one machine, I just want to be sure that the 4000 didn't have any problems before I think of making that purchase.
What are those features that were promised to everyone in the new software?

most of my time on this forums i figured out most of the bad talkers and complainers never even owned a 4000 there just repeating what other non owners tell them the real owners on here will tell u that even with akai having os short coming that the 4k is worth the doe and the wait for the os updates....and im one of them and i dont get mines until friday but the studio i do my work in has one... so get it man u will not be dissapointed

My MPC4000 was the best buy I had ever made, I owned a 2000xl, and a 60II. Its the best unit in its league. I have had mine scine they came out, about 2 years now and I learn something every day. I can tell you OS updates are slow from Akai, but now that the newest beta has been floating around I wouldn't worry too much, it seems like Akai is doing the right thing. I wouldn't trade it for nothing.

There' really nothing like it on the market...not even the Roland MV comes close to this thing. I recently spent some time with a MV at Sam ash in NYC last weeknd..and although the idea is cool...it's nothing compared to the 4K. I had a 2k for a year and reently got the 4k. The 2k is simple to use after some time but the sampling and sequencer..as you know...leave much to be desired if you're into making more then just beats (which is what the 2k is meant for) I've used the 4k for a month now..and the machine is simply aweome. Very musical and logical. The few bugs in the OS can be worked around..I've found...and the new OS will hopefully address a few of those problems.

Let's face it..if you're not into cliking a mouse and staring at a computer screen...and want a hands on instrument....this thing is for you. Period.

and then there's the puncy sound!!!!!!!!! man I was sampling vinyl this week, this 80's chezy funk band and most of their drums came from a crappy yamaha drumbrain or something .. after 96k via the very hot outputs the drumsound was banging at my walls like a sailor on a pornstar..

Now that's what I wanna here Tell me more about what this machine can do because I will have the money for it next week, but my lady is trying to steer me away from buying it so soon.But now I got to have it man,I'm selling my 2k this week to this guy I know for $700(he's new to making beat's)I'm hoping he doesn't try to change his mind about buying .

Which sytem should I start with? I see that there are different models and they range in price.I know I will need the 8 out's with mine, any suggestions so I can create more damage?

get the one that fits your set up as u stated i dont know the model nmbers but i got the plus 272 meg ram 60 gig hd digital i/o i just have to see what outs i wanna go with the 8 outs or the adat out because i use a yamaha o1v. truly the le version was my first choice american musical 1799 and add the options for cheaper than buying the studio a or d cause the mem is cheaper from the store so is the cdrw just have to pay for the output option.. but i got licky a caught the 4000 plus for 1599 at gc clearance sell they where making room for the blue face
