What first,,, 512 mb ram or 8 outs??

I got some money now and i can choose between,,,, buying 256 ram and 8 outs,,, or 512 ram and a mic preamp,,,

What do you suggest?? Is 256 ram enough? Ive heard some poeple we said that 256 was enough.

8 outs. You need a way to seperate your sounds so you can mix properly. 256 is more than enough.

the eight outs is over rated and the 256 should be enough i think I got the 512 though 20 something minutes of sample time I don't think I will be using all that up

do you have a mixer with 8 inputs

Yeah,, i found a big ass 38 channel mixer for very very cheap,,, it was one of the best deals of my life

Ill get the 8 outs and the 256 ram

if you have alot of sound going into two channles of a mixer you are going to clip. if you have all of your sounds going into multipal channels its less likely to happen .

I gota agree with everyone else, ytou will run outta individual outputs WAY before you run outta RAM. 256mb is way more than enough. People seem to think more is better and in most cases they are right BUT ask yourself when is the last time you've used a full 256 mb in a single song? It's overkill really. Get the 8 outs first.

Definately the 8 outs. By the way, if you look properly you can get RAM for next to nothing if you find rebates . You got to know how to search for them. I got dual 256 sticks for my MO ES which came out to a total of $7 each after rebates.

Check the Saturday papers for the Sunday deals on RAM.

I only got eight inputs on my pro tools interface and I have 3 more pieces of equipment that need to use some inputs so the mpc can only have two inputs so I have no need to have the eight outputs and plus i plan on getting a pre amp with two inputs that I wonna run all of my sounds thru so there's another reason for me not to get the eight out puts but the clipping does come to play

How are you tracking all of your sounds? A stereo mix is cool for playing around with,but you still want to seperate each sound. I usually wait to multi track after the artist has finished their vocals,just in case I want to make some changes.

i track 2 sounds from each module at a time . 2 tracks of mono or 1 track of stereo via midi .I lay down 8 bars and tell pro tools to repeat it then I come back and edit but I lay the vocals down to a stereo track (with all the sounds) first then I come back and erase the stereo track(with all the sounds) and lay all the sounds the way I explained earlier
