Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

I've learned alot in this past year about my MPC 4000, but I know there's more that I need to learn. I want to use more aspects of my 4000 in order to make nicer beats. Here's my question: Can somebody explain the different filter and LFO functions? I'm going to be honest, I don't really know much about either of these. I've played around with them, but I never get anything sounding how I want it to sound. If you could also explain the wave formats and what they mean as well, that would be great. If you cannot on here, point me in the right direction (i.e.: a book, video, website) that could answer my questions and teach me how to use these features. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, how can I EQ samples on the 4000? I know that you can, but I can't seem to find it.

Thanks in advance....

If you go to the sound on sound site and do a search for synth secrets you will find over 40 articles on the subject.
It's a monthly column on the site. The article your looking for is
part 4 and 5. Which are linked above.

Here you will find a list of the synth secrets articles.

If you ever have any questions you might want to go to SOS first.

If the MPC is like a god Sound on Sound is the bible.
