Slice sample rules!!!

I dont know if you are trying to get us to start arguing but lets just say, I dont see any reason for me to train my speed with chopping on the 4k when ReCycle treats me so nicely. Enough said on this matter.

Thank you for the info. This really helps man. I am still on OS 9 ...dont ask me why... but I will upgrade just for the full24-bit rez.

I think that for creative types like everyone on this boad, it's really important to have multiple environments to work in...ergonomic and purely conceptual (virtual/pc/mac).

IMHO it will help to leave all creative options open by having the opportunity to edit on the MPC or Recycle. Conceptually they are the same and it's up to the individual which is the primary tool...whatever minimizes the space between your vision and the actualized tune.


one question for the peak users...why do you import into peak befor recycle? what types of things do you find peak useful for..cleaning up samples? compression?

dont worry! ... noone is arguin in here (hope i m not talkin for myself alone)! just exchangin diff. opinions and chatin bout it! there is nothin wrong havin diff. opinions! just constructive talk and learnin from how others do similar ****

i for myself (don't know recycle at all) have seen that there might be some points where its worth it usin it! ... well, at least now i know what it is for! maybe one day i'll try it ... and maybe one day you'll gonna have to reset up your pc and will be happy to find some useful slice features within your 4k!

... it wasnt pointed towards anyone, and its not training your speed, but rather learning how how use it...

If you notice at the end of my post is states its all a matter of preference

Although nothing will replace the MPC for sometime yet (I own 60/2000xl &4000) 'Intakt' is a pretty nifty little slicing and assigning software... As for Recycle, It seems to be the most library accurate one out there. Dosn't have much feel though does it!!!

You know. after all this back and forth and advocacy of Recyle...i have to say i really like the 4000 for chopping hits and stabs. I dissect break down to the level of shakers and hihts so recycle is easier for that but man i really like the edit option for hits

I mean that recycle chop's the samples closest to a usable position when complex chops are needed (many). The MPC and Intakt slice menus struggle to find the subtle grace notes that i personally require for loop mashing. In saying this, i still do most of my chopping manually in the MPC cos it's become a pre-beat ceremony for me and there's no substite for a human!!
