Firstly, Is there any way to search previous posts? I can only search unanswered posts.... dont want to be wasting your time asking stuff thats been answered, Im workin on reading the 50 pages of history though!

Anyway the question I have is what hardware is everyone using with the MPC? im dont use a pc in my setup and was just wondering if there was anyone else left using an all hardware setup?

What im using, if anyone cares.
Akai MPC 4k
Akai DPS 24
Korg Triton LE 88
Nord Lead 3
E-mu XL-7 w/ Mo' Phatt
Roland Juno-106
Yamaha SY2
Vestax PMC-06, Numark TT-200

anyway let me know, I know theres some diehard hardware fans out there, thats why we all bought the 4k isnt it?!?!?!?

Yeah just recently came from the Fostex vf-160 to the Akai DPS24 and I LOOOOOOOVE it, not so good for live applications(as far as I know you can only record 8 seperate mono tracks at once) but the sound is fkn amazing!!!!!
I lOOOOOve it and it pairs sooo well with the 4k, I dont think I could stand, as someone has mentioned before, Sitting ALL day in front of a computer at work and having to go to my studio and sit in front of another fkn monitor for another 8 hours!! fk dat!
Although im not complaining using the dps trackview... what a fkn contradiction!
But anyway I come from a guitar background and also an IT background so for me PC's are for wordprocessing etc and dedicated hardware is for music making, although if a PC can help me out I wont say no, im talking more about sequencing and tweaking.

Check this, here in australia the DPS 24 retails for $10,000AUD, which works out to around $7,000 US!!!!!!!!
the Akai MPC 4k sells for $6,500AUD which works out to around $4,500 US!!!!! Crazy fkers think they can steal my money when all I have to buy is a $50 power converter and some customs fees.

me too! looks like akai s gonna make some money with this dps soon!

and welcome to the board boy! ... great setup btw!

i use the 4k, virus kb (not mine but always here), roland gr 33, my guitars, a fakked up bass which is unplayable but great to sample, some fxs such as a lexicon mpx 550, virtualzer 2024, cry baby, marshall 900somethin, korg ax 300g and a homemade distotion which is by far the smallest, cheapest and loudest gear in my setup (a very much appreciated friends present!)! oh yeah and the mixer a mackie vlz 24 4 2 (which i wanna change for a dps!!!) and the microfone a shure sm 86 ... and about one month ago i've ordered a pair of rnc's which should have been here at least 2 weeks ago! ... hope they still manage their way over the big sea!

this is what i use mostly! then there are some things which due to time limit i haven't used so far but will do soon as two synths from the 80s, my mums harmonium and her chopping board or dulcimer (hope thats english and understandable, ... well at least my dictionary translates it like this!) and my dads trumpet!

and the pc is finally plugin free! now there is only aksys and i just use it to update the os and to bring some order on my 4k hd once in a while!

bangin beaz rokkas!

and btw boy about searchin: there is a search function (on the top line of each page!) forget the google one - its quit new and it never worked in my case! use the other one below! there is a lot of useful and interesting information in these forums! ... and if you don't find what you're lookin for ask ... peaple here are very friendly and helpful as long as you don't ask: i have a 4k, what should i do now?

Damn, you got me, that was my next question,
My daddy just bought me all the gear listed above because thats what all the big cats use, all I can find is the power buttons..what do I do now???
HAHAHAHA jst kidding
Im liking my setup and have just put my balls on the line and gone for a big upgrade(dps & mpc), now im back to being a newbie and its a bit hard but im loving the 4k, pumpin out tracks so much easier than on my XL-7.

I liked the sequencer but not so much the synth side of things, it uses some wierd modulation using patchcords and stuff, which I could basically understand but dont like to program my sounds like that, thats why I picked up the NL3... the only way to program sounds!
I use the Xl mostly for drum sounds and staple PCM drum/key/some bass sounds. My Triton covers that same area but at a different angle, the main reason I got that was because its the cheapest Weighted 88-key midi kbrd w/ the most features, I also really like the 32mb stereo grand piano...

A quiet achiver that im really liking atm is one of the very first home synths that yamaha made, its called the SY2(www.synthmuseum.com)
nice phatt analog basses, xcept the keys are a bit dusty.

I use a 4k and a Digi 002(PT)(along with a nice group of other things) so I guess I'm outta the all hardware field :(
