Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

hello group.

this one is a hard one to explain but let me try...

I used to own an mpc 2k and one feature I liked was setting the sample to mono mode in the program. This would trigger the sample when I hit the pad and then retrigger it by hitting the pad cutting muting the remainder of the original sample.

I tried to go this on the mpc4k using mono, note off but no luck... BUT THEN...

I loaded up one of the demo acoustic kits and I was surprised to have the ohh and clhh work in this fashion. Everytime I hit the closed hit hat pad, it would cut out the open hit hat pad. But when I investigated the program in akai sys I could not determine what is making this work? WHat setting allows me to mute a sample by triggering another? I have experimented with a variety of settings on my own programs but cannot figure it out. All I want is the ability to mute currenty playing pads when the same pad or others...

Any ideas... post em up. Thanks.

Under program mode go into pitch, then adjust the mute group on the notes that you want to silence each other. Also if you are triggering one sound and you want it to cancel itself out, adjust the pad's polyphony in this page.
