I am wondering if to just connect up the deck direct or carry on using the mix stick i find the faders on it useful, if i go direct in will it tamper the quality because the mp boosts the signal?
any hints or tips?

I really don't know why or how you would use this with a turntable:

But you KNOW that the MPC's AD/DA is WAY better then any Hanna Montanna Mix Stick... I don't even see where a Phone could plug into it...

I would go with the $2500 products AD/DA conversion then a $50 one that is made by Disney..

Cheers,
Dave

Personally I find the phono pre amp of the MPC4000 not so good. It sounds thin and gets over saturated too quickly. I prefer an outboard phono pre which in my case is a Sony hi-fi amplifier
The analog xlr/jack stereo in/out on the MPC4000 are really great, though

I aint using that mix stick now i use the vestax one. funnily enough though it cost me £20 because some muppet cut the box too hard and it has a f-uck off scratch down the centre so it was reduced to the max, but it plays fine and I thanked the burger boy for his knife work and my £20 mix stick, thats less than the disney one too.
