I just sent this letter off to Akai US and Akai Japan. I hope someone there reads it. Keep flooding Akai with emails until they shape up!
To whom it may concern,[/quote]
As a loyal Akai fan and owner of the MPC 4000, and previously an MPC 2000, I have a few suggestions concerning the operation of the MPC 4000 and overall support for Akai products. As you know, the MPC 4000 is Akai's flagship sampler, and arguably the most powerfull hardware sampler on the market. I truely enjoy the new capablilities the MPC 4000 offers, and look forward to new features that will be added in future OS upgrades. However, there are many issues with the current OS v1.4 that have yet to be addressed. If your company is interested in finding out what users are saying (pro's and con's) about the 4000, I suggest that your tech department and programmers visit the MPC 4000 forums at http://www.mpc-tutor.com/phpBB2/ This is the most popular site for MPC 4000 users on the web. There you will find the main issues and complaints about the MPC 4000 from everyday users. Most of the problems and suggestions could easily be written into future OS updates. I hope this suggestion is explored.
I think I speak for most MPC 4000 users when I say that Akai's continued lack of reliable tech support, lack of an Akai sponsored forum, lack of any substantive information regarding upcoming OS releases, and lack of feedback to real world users is absolutely appalling! As a studio owner, I can tell you honestly that the MPC 4000 is one of the most complex machines in my arsinal. But at the same time, Akai has the absolute worst tech support I have ever experienced. Akai cannot afford to operate in a bubble. As customers who have invested as much as $3500 for an MPC 4000, we deserve to have extensive support. Instead, we have almost none. It is simply unexceptable to have such bad customer service. I hope this email makes it to the right people. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
xxxxxxx
