Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000
ByCarolina husla Mon May 24, 2004 5:18 pm
I'VE BEEN PRODUCING FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW WITH FRUITY LOOPS, AND I'M THINKING ABOUT COPIN THE MPC 4000. I'VE HEARD THAT THE 1.51 OS IS TIGHT AND THERE ARE NO MORE BUGS. THE ONLY QUESTION I HAVE IS ABOUT THE CD-R. WOULD I BE ABLE TO BURN AUDIO? BEATS AND ISH, OR IS IT JUST FOR BURNING AUDIO?

The CD-RW doesn't burn audio. It burns whatever files you have in memory. It's basically like a floppy drive. However the CD drive does play audio CD's and you can sample directly off of them in the 4k.

first play your seq off off the mpc while in sample mode go to the source section and choose to sample from main out and sample you whole song save as a wav then save it on a cd then take it to a computer with a burner and you know the rest

Good luck

only u have to use songs or a really long sequence not being able to chae to the trackmute page an all...

I havent got the hang of that, the most I will use is dif sequences with dubs & trackmutes live to my DPS.
I cant think that far ahead to plan a full 150 bar sequence, how do you guys do it!!!!!!!!

hard work! but you can record track mutes in the track mute page, and enable them out of the mute page ,
by pushing the window key.
when the cursor is on "Mute" in the main page, turn "use tack mute events" to on...

roger that reveal, I didnt think about recording the track mutes!!!!!
atm track mutes fk me up if I try and start mixing up my pattern w/ mutes whilst still recording....now I know where to turn em off

I thought you guys copied and pasted sequence data and got rid of the notes you didnt want!!!!! or just have 5-10 sequences chained 2gether in song mode..
Ill have to try that sht, but yeah mostly I compose on my Akai DPS24, that would definatly be something to look at carolina if the budget can stretch.

nice one reveal.pez
