Because it doesn`t work like software samplers. You can only listen to the different samples on the 4k in accurate pitch via Aksys when you clik and press audition and from the Load page menu that is why.
You can not listen to the samples within the sample list of the 4k itself at correct pitch!!! This is in the manual.
But you can use you pad assign page to audition as the sequence plays.
You can use your zone page assignment to audition different samples too.
You can assign different samples to different zones and use zone select to auditon different samples once you set up the velocity zones and qlink it is up to you.
But the way you want to do it isn`t how the 4k is designed. We know but you didn`t cuz you got to read never assume especially for it to play at the right pitch.
