Help! My MPC4000 now says no drive

Can anyone help me on what has happened......when I try to load something from my MPC4000 it says no drive. I cannot find anything that was once stored on my MPC. I also cannot save anything now.....it says invalid volume handle. It also doesn't load anything from the cd-rom drive now. And when I try to find all it does is searches SCSI devices and then says invalid volume handle? What should I do????

u could take the hd out and install it as a second drive in a pc to try and get back all ur beats by backin up..... if that doesnt work ,your hd must of failed':x'. either way contact the store where ya bought it and a akai sevice center,support see what they say ....and try formatting if all else fails but u will lose all content on the drive......good luck

Well I'm waiting word from AKAI support to see if their is some way to retrieve what was on my MPC. Hopefully I don't have to just reformat and move on.

yo... do you move your MPC around alot... maybe something is loose inside. I would try detaching the hard drive from the IDE cable and then see if the CD-ROM works. If the CD-ROM doesn't work then you got more than HD problems. Ususally when a hard drive fails it is due to vibrations. The head crashes into the platter of data. If you can, defintely hook the drive up to a PC.

If you ca recall what was the last thing you did with the mpc before it took a sh!t? If I where you i'd open him up and look around just to see if everything looks like its where it should be. If everything looks cool then I'd wait for a word back from Akai. If they don't hit you back soon you can also call up Leo's Audio in Oakland off of Telegraph and see if thier techs can help you or take it to them. Don't even Think about that GC in El Cerrito. Also, where did you get it from if its from a store and its still under warranty then forget all of what I said above and take that shit back to them and stay on there asses to get it fixed or give you a new one

Let me know what they say dude. If i turn mine off a couple of times the hard Drive Shows up. but slow on Loading sometimes hang up.

Yeah still waiting word from AKAI.....I bought it at Music Unlimited.....I should probably check with them. Yeah I know that Guitar Center in El Cerrito is weak.....I think I will open it up tho and check it out atleast.

be careful you dont wont to void any warranty by braking any seals it might have

being that the drives are ide master and slave from my pc knowledge, if it was the drive it would still see the cd drive this seems to be the cable or port so dont open it take to the service center

Thanks for all the replies and tips. Some guy at Music Unlimited checked it out and said that there was some cable in there that was loose. It works now and everything was intact.
