Display broken? - NEED HELP

Hey there,

I got an older MPC4000 and just recently installed the IB-4D and the IB-4ADT boards, since then my display seems to be broken. Its power supply is working, but there are only strange pixels or lines.
I already checked the cable connections, but they're alright.
I also tested most of the functions without display (metronom, changing tempo, loading a sample,...) and they are working.
So now I am wondering wether it is only the display which is broken, or if maybe the graphics chip or anything else is the problem.
Did anyone already have problems with the display of the MPC4K?

Did you take precautions against static electricity when you fitted the boards...?

If not, then you may have fried something (/sighs/)

If you did, then it's hard to imagine how installing the boards could have affected the screen.

Are you SURE the ribbon cable to the screen is connected right?

yes i did care bout static electricity etc. and the cable is connected right.

phoned with a german akai service center, they told the display of the 4k is a critical point, i should clean the pins of the connection between mainboard and board, but that didn't work out either.
they also told me, that they had several 4k's with broken display cable, even though i cant see any damage on the cable i'll gonna send it to them - lets see what they can find.

I also got a blank screen after doing an install. I fixed it by pushing the ribbon back into the connector. I am not talking about the connection of the socket to the motherboard but above that where the ribbon goes into the connector. Just push it in because it may have been pulled loose. This is hard to notice but give it a try.

Yep, listen to those suggestions...check to see if both ends are seated properly. Usually, cocked or slightly out of place type seating causes these symptoms. I should know...I dealt with cell phone lcd connections for over two decades (as a service & repair tech).
