That it froze is either a bug in the OS that probably wont ever get fixed or its your ram sticks that has problems... Id take out the rams and put them in a PC and run memtest (google it) on them.

Also make sure the ram sticks are 100% compatible with the 4k.

And that ak.sys tip is very good! And easy to forget :(

yeah, i have the same probs with a brandnew mpc4000 plus since yesterday. the machine is unused and brandnew with the akai standards plus the 8 analog outputs.

but the sequencer crashed after 2-5 minutes with "undefined instruction" or "data abort" - that sucks.

i have load some programs from the akai cd - arp odyssey or minimoog - and recording some sequences and use the jog wheel sometimes and can wait for a crash.

will send the mpc back to my dealer, i have a 24 months warranty.

I personally would try to upload the newest OS. I doubt they are shipping the 4000 with the latest OS... what version did it come with?

Right move it`s your unit no matter how many times you reinstall the O.S. sent in as soon as possible and meanwhile work on whatever interests you till it comes back guitar, piano, synths, or DAW..

Peace.. I enjoy my 808/Memorymoog combo myself ;) Makes great techno and electro.

I just checked your site out and your music is right down my alley. You'll enjoy the 4000 :)

Check out the Q-Link Sequence functions, it's like having a Modular Step Sequencer for your variety of
parameters available for Programs and FX.

Ohhh Elektro! Its mainly what I listen to these days cause hiphop is so wack now. And no I dont mean electrohouse. I like a couple of the MAS2008 songs! Grew up on electro-hiphop and "regular" hiphop so I always loved it and got reintroduced to it around 1995/1996 with the dopplereffekt releases etc... Man Im surprised to see other ppl in here that likes it! Makes me happy!
