Hi Alto, Thank you very much for the details. Everything you wrote matches up with things I have read. Either ppl not owning them, mad because they wanted it to be cheaper or never took the time to learn it.

I am a newb when it comes back to the hardware. I have been completely VSTi based for the last few years. But after missing the feel of my Roland R-8 drum machine, I tried using it to trigger sounds on my PC. Didn't work out very well. So a friend mentioned to me how much he loved his MPC2000. soooooo.




i hear ya! it was similar situation with me! ... a friend of mine after having an mpc 2000 xl i think after half a year that he had it loved his 2xl even more than his minimoog!!!


That being the case, I am in search of the LE version. So I can add my own stuff to it as needed. In fact earlier in this thread that was suggested.

Am I correct is stating that the LE is identical in all of it capabilities, minus the add-ons and that I can add standard IDE drive, IDE CDR and will be good to go?




dunno bout the different models! i think they sell it differently in different countries! but yeah you can add cdr/cdrw and ide (or atapi not 100% sure) hd drive on your own! 4k = 4k you get me! do a search on the 4k forum here there are a lot of threads regarding compatible drives and also the different models are discussed!



Been tracking them on E-Bay, but they tend to sell a little higher than I thought. Guess the owners are trying to recover some of the 3,500+ they may have spent on the tricked out units.

My plan is to have one very soon. I am getting impatient but have to wait for the right deal. Or atleast the best I can find at the moment.

I want a one stop shop production unit soooooo badly. I can picture it now:

MPC 4000, Senheiser 560's and a 12 pack of Moutain Dew

One other thing.

Am I missing the mark in what I want to do????


At the moment I am 100% VSTi with a fast dedicated PC for audio.
So what's best to integrate with my setup?

Fatar weighted controller / Novation ReMote 25 controller / Mackie 1604 / Delta 1010 Audio card / all driving software or VSTi's


I am thinking the MPC 4000 can enhance my setup greatly. Using it with in my PC world and on its own.

Can you take song or patters that you create with the MPC and export or capture it into a wav? Then load it into the PC? Or do I have to play it into my PC to capture it?

How I do is I get my song down how I want it in the mpc4k, then track it out on something like PT,Cubase then mix it, you can also add whatever else here like a VSTi etc

But something I've started doing lately is linking up PT and the 4k via Midi Time Code, and use both the sequencers at the same time, you can have the best of both worlds, plus with enough outputs, you can do a little mix as well before you bounce it down
