Hello Everyone I have a connection question... I was trying to run my Akai 4000 (Slave) to my computer through a USB connection the computer I am using is a Emachine with XP I have the factory sound card provided by the emachine but anyway here is the problem The computer recognizes the MPC and says its connected but then the install hardware wizard pops up and says do you want to install it of course I say yes and it goes through the installation process when finally it pops up with the error message software is needed to succesfully install your hardware. So here is what I did I called Guitar Center the people I bought it from to see if they had any answers for me and thy asked me what program am I using on my computer and I told him Cakewalk he Says " You can run the MPC through cakewalk, you just have to track it" huh?! What the ****!!!! so please if you have a connection answer so that I can run my MPC through my computer Please Help!!!

here's my suggestion :

go to ADD/REMOVE programs and delete AKsys.

go to Akai's support site and download the current OS for the 4K and download Aksys and the USB driver files.

http://www.akaipro.com/us/support.html

install the software again.

reboot your machine and rehook the 4K USB and see what happens.

good luck!

Call the place you bought it? What were you thinking? :D

Rule number 1... Always come to www.mpc-forums.com for answers

Rule number 2... No witnesses

dumdum has great advice.

And unless otherwise stated, it's good pratice to have the USB device off.
Plug in the USB cable to the PC and into your device (MPC in this case) the power on the MPC. It should be automatic from there.

I have had several issues with MIDI and USB in the past. Most recently with my Novation ReMote 25 controller. It's just stupid what you have to do these days to get things to work. It's good now though.

hope things work out for you!
