I just downloaded Akai Sys for the first time and it seems to be working.
I also downloaded O.S. v1.51 and the O.S. loader from akai web page. I seem to be stuck now. When I double click on the OS Loader icon a screen com up saying Akai Professional MPC 4000 OS Loader - Select OS File to ..... Their is nothing in the 'file name' and the 'file of type' is AKAI OS File (*.bin). I havnt had any luck finding instructions on how to upgrade the OS through the USB cable. I thaught this was possible but I dont know. Can anyone help?
Is their a manual for Akai Sys. When I click on the help menu nothing happens?

I didnt installed an OS in the MPC4000, but a *.bin file is packed and should be burned (extract) with Nero or something similar..

just load the binfile to an usb memory stick and stick it in the mpc4k before starting up

Would a zip drive work. Or could I burn the file to a CD. I dont have a usb memory stick. Dont even now how much they cost. I just thought it would be easier to use the Akai Sys program. But I cant seem to load the OS loader to my computer.

You should be able to download the OS Loader, Unzip the file and it installs on the computer. Then click on the the OS Loader icon and then select the OS 1.51 file. Make sure that the MPC is on and connected to the computer using the USB cable. AkSys is not needed for the OS update.

Yes, you can load the OS from cd. Read Addendum 1.20 {pg.6} which can be downloaded from the Akai web site as well as other Addendums.

The AkSys manual can be downloaded from the Akai web site also.
